Meet the choreographers whose work will be shown at The Wooden Floor's
36th Annual Concert: Of Knowing Where



David Dorfman has been creating movement-based theater in and around NYC and internationally since 1981. He has received numerous fellowships and awards including a “Bessie” for David Dorfman Dance’s (DDD) community based project Familiar Movements (The Family Project), a Guggenheim for his research on power and protest which led to DDD’s underground, NEA support, and recently a Lucille Lortel for choreographing INDECENT’s Off-Broadway run. Recent David Dorfman Dance highlights include a 30th Anniversary Season at BAM’s Next Wave Festival with Aroundtown in Nov. 2017, and a State Department-sponsored trip to El Salvador to do work on violence prevention with young people. An avid fan of live music and collaboration, he continues his serio-comic work with Dan Froot. David is approaching his 15th year of full-time teaching at Connecticut College where DDD is Company-in-Residence. DDD hosts their annual Summer Intensive at Connecticut College, and NYC Winter Intensive in Manhattan.



Falon Baltzell, Artistic Director, has presented her minimalistic choreography at festivals, conferences, site specific venues, museum galleries, concert stages and dance film across CA, NYC, OH, ME, MA, NY State, HI, and Mexico. Recent choreographic residences include the MacDuffie School, and a one-month residency at the Santa Fe Art Institute for her research on water rights. Notable commissions for choreography: Big Box Series, Cincy Fringe, and Society of New Music. She has served as a Field Tester for the Ohio Arts Council, Co-Chair of Creation and Presentation for the World Dance Alliance-Americas, and a current member of the National Dance Education Organization. A Bill Evans Certified Teacher, Baltzell is passionate about teaching somatically through the Evans Method in modern and composition. Baltzell holds a Masters of Fine Arts in Dance, Performance and Choreography, and a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Dance Education with K-12 Licensure.


Angie Muzzy began her dance training in the hills of Western Massachusetts. She received an MFA in Choreography and Performance at The College at Brockport and a BA in Theater and Dance from Keene State College. She currently directs the dance program at The MacDuffie School in Granby, MA. She loves teaching students to be explorative, expressive and embodied. Angie has showcased her work at The School for Contemporary Dance and Thought, The 5th and 6th Annual Somatic Dance Conference and Performance Festival, Movement Research, Dixon Place, The Movement Exchange, ACDA, Visual Studies Workshop, The Southern Vermont Dance Festival and CultivatedanceNH. She was a company member of Boston based Lorraine Chapman The Company and has worked with choreographers: Robert Battle, Monica Bill Barnes, Rose Pasquarello Beauchamp, Beppie Blankert, Bill Evans, Stephan Koplowitz, Marcia Murdock, Cathy Nicoli, Claire Porter, Karl Rogers, Candice Salyers, among others.
