“During the pandemic, I forgot how to talk to people. The Wooden Floor has helped me become more confident and talk to people again.”

KAREN, CLASS OF 2030

“I used to be shy, but I got more confident after performing. I began to meet new people and talk a little bit more in my classes at school. The Next Step© program gave me tips on how to become a better student at school, like time management, how to be organized, and how to study. The Wooden Floor has helped me to be happier, helped me to be healthier, and encouraged to me to do good in school.”

KAREN, CLASS OF 2030

Karen joined The Wooden Floor during the pandemic in 2021. While many children continue to struggle from the after-effects of social isolation and virtual learning, Karen has thrived due to the support she received at The Wooden Floor. She has an impressive 4.8 GPA and was moved up two dance levels this fall. She dreams of studying dance at the university level, being inspired by role models she has had at The Wooden Floor.

“I feel like dance brings me happiness, even when I have bad days. I can forget about all my problems, like sometimes I have homework I don’t understand or maybe something is going on with my friends. When I dance, all my fears go away and I feel really confident.”

KAREN, CLASS OF 2030

The social isolation and remote learning resulting from the pandemic have left children like Karen facing challenges, such as learning and social skills losses. The Wooden Floor makes a 10-year commitment to every student we serve.

We have been focused on children, like Karen, in the Class of 2030 and beyond to ensure each of their challenges are met with guidance, caring, and respect. We are humbled and honored by the strength of our loving supporters, including you, who walk alongside us each and every day.

According the NPJ Science of Learning journal, the neglecting of students’ socio-emotional skills magnified learning losses during the pandemic, and that a range of socio-emotional skills systematically correlate with positive learning outcomes.*

Together, with your investment, we are ensuring future generations of children in our community thrive.

Be a part of inspiring every journey so our students reach their fullest potential, both in school and in life. Your support makes a difference in the life of Karen and her fellow 475 peers at The Wooden Floor.
