In Memoriam:
Marilyn McIntyre
(1928-2024)
Marilyn McIntyre was a beloved member of The Wooden Floor community, serving on our Board of Directors from 1990 until 2000, and served as Board Secretary from 1996-2000. Marilyn was an incredible woman – smart, kind with a great sense of optimism for life, her family, and the mission of The Wooden Floor. She had many charitable interests, and our students were always her top priority.
Beyond her board service, she and her husband Bob were both Dance Partners with The Wooden Floor, providing thoughtful guidance and encouragement to increase the likelihood of academic and personal success for many of our students.
For decades, she also hosted our annual Eat & Wrap until 2022, alongside longtime supporters Dodo Kennedy, Pat Yoder, Edie Barvin, and most recently Sasha Ayloush. She lovingly shopped for gifts and wrapping paper to ensure we could provide each and every one of our students with a beautifully wrapped gift during the holiday season.
Additionally, she loved supporting our Endowment Fund and was an Annual Concert Underwriter, avidly bringing friends and family each year to sit in her same seats in the balcony. We are grateful for all the ways that she showed her love and support for our mission and students.
Marilyn was honored with the Outstanding Philanthropist Award in 2008 by National Philanthropy Day Orange County, having been nominated by The Wooden Floor. She is remembered by our organization for her energetic, loving, and generous spirit and she will be dearly missed. Read more about Marilyn McIntyre here.
